An International Engineering Expert

Born in Sri Lanka, Anura Perera Raycom earned his mechanical engineering certification in Colombo. After completing his education, he chose to work in Zambia as an engineer and sales professional for Caterpillar Inc.,the heavy machinery manufacturer and distributor. There, Anura Leslie Perera honed his mechanical engineering expertise. Not wanting to just sit on his laurels, he diversified and gained various other skills like management, communications, and training. In 2003, Anura Leslie Perera became the Chairman of Raycom Aerospace Pte Ltd, a Singapore based corporation specializing in manufacturing parts for the aeronautics as well as oil and gas industries. He helped the company earn its ISO and National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation. Recently, Anura Leslie Perera also helped to facilitate the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between Raycom Aerospace and the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) to develop and improve the Al Ain aerospace cluster infrastructure. An avid traveler, he has also been to five continents and sometimes comes out in radio and television shows to further spread his knowledge and expertise.

The Nairobi Buddhist Temple

A devout Buddhist, Anura Leslie Perera established the George Phylnormel Foundation to raise money to build the Nairobi Buddhist Temple in Nairobi, Kenya. Dedicated to the memory of Mr. George and Mrs. Norma Perera, the Nairobi Buddhist Temple openly welcomes people of all faiths who are curious about dharm and meditation, as well as finding inner peace. Since 1999, the Nairobi Buddhist Temple has been headed by Bhante Wimala who uses the temple for his humanitarian projects in Africa as well as dharma classes. The Nairobi Buddhist Temple actively participates in various humanitarian projects like the Nepal earthquake relief, Philippines typhoon relief work, earthquake relief in Haiti, and helping war victims rebuild their lives in Sri Lanka.

The Daily Life of Anura Leslie Perera

Today, Anura Leslie Perera splits his time between the George Phylnormel Foundation for his philanthropy interests and Raycom Aerospace Pte Ltd. During his free time, he enjoys cricket and reading. He also practices mindful eating, which encourages slowly and thoroughly chewing food to ensure complete digestion. Anura Leslie Perera once brought his wife and eldest son to a health treatment center in Spain to seriously reset their eating habits according to the pH Diet, which supports the idea of eating more alkaline food like leafy green vegetables, grains and fatty fish while limiting the consumption of more acidic food like red meat and other animal products. When he noticed that the diet plan actually helped to lower and control diabetes, Anura Leslie Perera was convinced that this habit was not only good for other animals and the earth, but also for his and his family’s health.

Anura Leslie Perera adheres to the Buddhist doctrines of compassion and kindness.
