Error 107 after Installing Windows 10

The following error occurs after installation of iTunes software on Windows 10:

iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.

Error 7 (Windows error 127)

One or more third party games may fail to start with below error:

Error 127: The game encountered a fatal Windows API issue while attempting to start. Try rebooting your machine and starting the game again.

Remove Program Files Completely

Do not use normal uninstaller. Download a special uninstaller toolkit in Reginout System Utilities to remove the program, and then remove all its traces such as installed folders, Registry settings and other configuration files.

Files to be removed before starting a fresh install:

  • C:\Program Files\Bonjour
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
  • C:\Program Files\iTunes
  • C:\Program Files\iPod
  • C:\Program Files\QuickTime
  • C:\Windows\System32\QuickTime
  • C:\Windows\System32\QuickTimeVR

Registry entries to be removed:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes\
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime\
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Inc.\Bonjour
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Inc.\Apple Application Support
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Inc.\Apple Mobile Device Support
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Inc.\CoreFP

Repair the Installation

Once you repair the iTunes installation you should be able to use it as before. If the information stored in application configuration files doesn’t match with the original data, it generates error 107 after installing Windows 10. Change/ repair option is located in Programs & Features page.

  • Apple Mobile Device Support
  • iTunes
  • QuickTime
  • Bonjour

Change Registry Settings

Verify the information stored in Registry isn’t corrupted. To do so, expand the “SharedDLLs” sub key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. In the right panel you can find a string named “C:\Program Files\iPod\Bin\iPodService.exe” The string represents this file path with the default value “1”. You’ve to replace its value with “0”. After making this change, shutdown and restart your session so that the new changes will be reflected.

Repair Registry (Highly Recommended)

To fix error 107 after Windows 10 it is essential you repair Windows 10 registry corruption. Use the RegInOut System Utilities software to repair registry and fix error 107.

Disable Secondary Monitor

If you’re using multiple monitors simultaneously, disable the secondary monitor. Normally Microsoft Windows 10 detects each connected monitor, however sometimes it fails to apply correct settings automatically.

Change Game Configs while Using a Secondary Monitor

If you’ve a secondary monitor and your game crashes with error 107, change AllowFakeFullScreen=True to AllowFakeFullScreen=False for The Lord of the Rings game. The file UserPreferences.ini is stored in My Documents directory under your game’s folder. This completely disables that unsupported feature.
